Rantings and photos of Metro Detroit in a post-industrial era.
The photo above was take in October of 2004. The below image is, presumably, somewhat newer.

I found your blog by accident. I started on a search of abandoned amusement parks from my childhood (in Australia) and in that search found all sorts of interesting parks in the US. By surfing around and clicking on things that interested me, I eventuallyended up here. The title of your site sucked me right in and I have only just starting reading and looking, but what I’ve seen so far is wonderful. In Australia we are not exposed to the realities of what is happening in Detroit, but I have thought about it a lot. I can’t imagine what it’s like, but your pictures give me some idea. I’m sure I’ll have loads more to say as I look around your site. I just wanted you to know that someone from the other side of the world is looking. I am fascinated and moved by what I’ve seen so far. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Carol. I do think the title fits the city well, in it’s current state. I know there are a lot of places worse of than Detroit, just not too many of them exist in developed countries, and certainly hardly any, if none at all in the States.
Unfortunately Detroit is very unique, in it’s poverty, economy, political environment (though that’s finally changing), crime, and abandonment.
